Connecting Communities through Digital Equity
An Action Plan for State, Community, and Private and Institutional Partners
The COVID-19 pandemic brought much-needed attention to the digital divide and its profound implications for social and economic opportunity in our commonwealth. Across a range of sectors, public and private, leaders committed to addressing this challenge once and for all. Massachusetts has made progress over the past two years, but considerable work remains. Fortunately, leaders remain focused on solving this problem and an unprecedented infusion of federal funding provides substantial resources to fuel their efforts.
In 2021, MACP's Innovation Committee identified digital equity as the committee's primary focus area. With this direction, MACP engaged MassINC to conduct further research on closing the digital divide in Massachusetts. Informed by a diverse working group of subject-matter experts, Connecting Communities Through Digital Equity builds on MassINC’s 2020 digital divide research, framing the challenges and opportunities ahead, and outlining a near-term action plan.
